Privacy

The short version

The Passata browser extension collects nothing. Your timer, your settings and your session counts stay in your browser and are never sent anywhere. The website, passata.hehe.studio, uses one privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics script and nothing else. There are no accounts, no sign-in and no advertising trackers anywhere.

The extension

Everything the extension needs lives in your browser's local storage on your own device: the timer's state, your durations and preferences, your daily session count, your usage streak, and flags recording whether you have already seen a prompt. None of this is transmitted, synced to a server, or shared. It is readable only by the extension, on your machine, and it works entirely offline.

The extension makes a single network request: it fetches a small configuration file that supplies the one house-promo line shown at the bottom of the new tab. That request only downloads data — it sends no personal information, no identifiers and no usage data, and the extension ships with a bundled copy so it works even when the request fails.

There is no analytics SDK in the extension. Uninstalling Passata removes all of its local data from your browser.

The website

The website at passata.hehe.studio — the landing page and the in-browser web timer — uses DataFast, a privacy-friendly analytics tool. It is cookieless, does not track you across other sites, and records only aggregate, anonymous visit information such as page views and referrer. It does not build a profile of you or collect personal data.

When you follow a share link, the address may carry a plain “?ref” tag naming the surface it came from (for example, the new tab or the popup). It is a fixed label, not an identifier, and contains no personal information. The web timer keeps its own timer state in your browser's local storage, exactly as the extension does.

Permissions the extension asks for

Passata requests the smallest set of permissions that lets the timer work, and none of them can read your browsing:

• alarms — fire the completion alert reliably, even after the browser suspends the extension.
• storage — save your timer and settings locally on your device.
• notifications — show a notification when a session ends.
• offscreen — play the completion chime (the extension's background worker cannot play audio on its own).
• new tab override — the focus timer on your new tab page, which is the extension's whole purpose, and always opt-in.

Passata asks for no access to your browsing history, your open tabs, or the websites you visit, and requests no host permissions of any kind.

What we never do

• We do not sell or rent your data. There is none to sell.
• We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking.
• We do not require an account or any personal details.
• We do not transfer data to third parties, except the aggregate, anonymous website analytics described above.
